The Cleveland Cavaliers were on a high but the Chicago Bulls brought them down to earth before the All-Star game this weekend. This was just the second loss in 16 games for the Cavs, who will be smarting at being defeated by the Bulls yet again. The 113-98 scoreline was a fair reflection of the game and basketball fans across the country, and indeed the world, will have been delighted at the form of Derrick Rose.
Rose hasn’t had his troubles to seek in recent years but with 30 points to his name, and the adulation of the crowd probably still ringing in his ears at the moment, this was a night that the point guard will remember for a long way to come. Of course, he wasn’t the top point scorer on the night, LeBron James managed to serve up 31 points for the losing side, but basketball is all about winning so it was Rose that is rightly praised for his role in the victory.
Pau Gasol loves striking up a double-double
Pau Gasol once again grabbed a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Tony Snell managed to provide 22 points. The win was the fourth win in a row for the Bulls, which comes as a big bonus to the team after they managed to lose 10 from 15 games. This win sees the Bulls leading the Cavs by a game and a half in the Central Division and the All-Star break gives both teams to look at where they are and where they want to be.
While the Cavs will be down about losing the game, there is no doubt that they are on the right path for success and you can see why so many bookmakers have the team as favourites for the NBA crown this season.
The All-Star game is looming
On Sunday night, the West and East All-Stars face off but this isn’t a game where we will be providing you with any betting tips. We wouldn’t recommend you bet on any games involving the Harlem Globetrotters, and their games are likely to be more serious in tone than the All-Star game.
The most important thing about this week is for players to get a rest, ensure that any niggling injuries have been taken care of get fully focused for the next part of the season. The next NBA games to look out for are played on Thursday the 19th of February, and there are two games that night. The Mavericks travel to the Thunder and the Clippers welcome the Spurs so if you are keen to get back involved with NBA betting, these are the games to take a note of. With games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday after that, we are back in the swing of things quite quickly so you may as well make the most of the few days off because there will be plenty of action grabbing your attention in a week’s time.
