NBA Weekend Action Begins Now
It may be the festive period but there is no let-up in the action in the NBA. Thursday night was a slightly quiet affair, with just the two games for fans to look out for but that all changes over the weekend when there are more than enough games to enjoy and bet on.
You can’t win every game but losing 103-94 to the Oklahoma City Thunder will have come as quite a blow to the Cavaliers. The team had been on a strong winning run but this was a challenge for them. It will be interesting to see if the outcome to this game places some doubt back into the minds of the Cavs players who looked to be buying into the LeBron Revolution or if it will be a mere setback in a successful season.
The Rockets maintained their impressive form this season with a 109-113 win in Sacramento. There may not have been a lot of games in the NBA on Thursday but the two that were played provided plenty of talking points for the fans and pundits.

Portland Trail Blazers @ Chicago Bulls
The Trail Blazers head into this match with a 17-5 record, consisting of a 7-3 record away from home, while the Bulls hold a 13-8 record, with a 3-5 home record. However, as much as their long form record tells you one thing, their streaks say another with the Bulls coming into this game on the back of a win while the Trail Blazers are looking to bounce back after a loss.
The 90-82 loss to Minnesota on Wednesday will be weighing on the minds of the Trail Blazers. They were well served by Damian Lillard, who offered up 23 points, and Wesley Matthews, who provided 18 points, but some of the other big names were sadly lacking. The Bulls have been boosted by a strong return to form of Derick Rose and there is talk of the player being in contention for the MVP this season. If Rose maintains this form, with 23 points on Wednesday night, the Bulls will be moving up the table sharply.
Portland are carefully monitoring CJ McCollum and Will Barton while the Bulls have a number of players they are keeping an eye on. Doug McDermott is the most serious of all the Bulls doubts but Tony Snell, Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah are all being closely monitored.

Charlotte Hornets @ Memphis Grizzlies
The Hornets currently hold a 6-15 record with a truly abysmal 1-8 record away from home. This is in sharp contrast to the 17-4 and 10-1 home record of the Grizzlies. However, both teams are on a winning streak of 2 coming into this game, so there is everything to play for.
Marc Gasol was the top man for the Grizzlies in the 114-105 win against Dallas on Tuesday. This was the third highest score of the season for Memphis and Gasol helped himself to 30 points in the game. Al Jefferson was the main man for Charlotte in their Wednesday win versus Boston, grabbing 14 rebounds, a season high, and 23 points.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has bounced back from an injury for the Hornets so he and PJ Hairston will be examined on a daily basis to ensure that they are in fit condition. The Grizzlies don’t have any major injury concerns going into this game.

Miami Heat @ Utah Jazz

The Jazz had been on a big losing run but a Tuesday night 100-96 win against the Spurs snapped them out of this funk. The five starters for the Jazz combined for 75 points in the game.
Josh McRoberts is being monitored daily by the Heat, but he is the only concern for both teams.
