Monday Night NBA Action Starts Another Week
The Heat were trounced in Miami by the Bulls, Chicago triumphing by 75-93. The Warriors eventually overcame the Pelicans in New Orleans, the final score ending 122-128. The Timberwolves slipped at home to the Lakers, 94-100. The Nuggets also lost out at home, with the San Antonio Spurs grabbing a big away win by a score of 91-99.
The Wizards overcame the Jazz in Washington, winning by a score of 93-84. The Thunder were big winners at home to the Suns, winning by 112-88 and the Raptors grabbed another win on the road, this time in New York. The Knicks were downed by a score of 90-95 by the team from Toronto.
Boston Celtics @ Philadelphia 76ers
The Celtics hold a 7-14 record with a 2-6 record away from home and they head to Philadelphia to face a home team who hold a 2-21 record, which includes a 0-12 record at home. Both teams are on a losing streak of 3, although the Celtics hold a 2-3 record in their last five games while the 76ers hold a 1-4 record.
The 76ers held an 18 point lead on Saturday night but with less than 8 minutes on the clock, they couldn’t hold on as Memphis forced overtime, and then the win. The game finished 115-120 in favour of Memphis but Robert Covington was on form with 24 points while Hollis Thompson matched a career high of 21 points. The Celtics lost 95-101 to New York on Friday night with Jeff Green grabbing 28 points in the game.
The Celtics are monitoring a few players with James Young likely to be the biggest doubt for the game although Avery Bradley, Marcus Thornton, Marcus Smart and James Young are all being monitored closely. Tony Wroten and KJ McDaniels are both being monitored by Philadelphia.
The Celtics have hardly been on strong form this season but taking them with a handicap of -4.5 at odds of 1.90 should be a solid Monday bet. Bet Now!
Los Angeles Lakers @ Indiana Pacers
The Lakers are 8-16, with a 5-7 record away from home and the Pacers are 7-17, with a 4-8 record at home. The Lakers are finally finding some form; they are on a winning streak of 3 while the Pacers have lost 8 matches in a row.
The Lakers got a massive OT win on Friday against the Spurs and then defeated Minnesota 94-100 on Sunday. This game was notable for the fact that Kobe Bryant made his way ahead of Michael Jordan on the list of all-time scorers in the NBA. Bryant, playing in his 19th season, overtook Jordan’s 32,292 points with a free throw, and he now sites behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.
While the Saturday 85-95 loss against Portland was another blow for the Pacers, it was the first time in five games that they prevented their opponents from grabbing 100 points.
George Hill is the biggest injury concern for the Pacers while CJ Miles is being monitored on a daily basis.
The form book sides with the Lakers at the moment and taking them with a +5 handicap, at odds of 1.90, is likely to be a sensible option on Monday. Bet Now!
Charlotte Hornets @ Cleveland Cavaliers
The Hornets hold a 6-17 record, with a 1-9 record away from home and the Cavs are sitting on a 13-9 record, which includes a 7-4 record at home. Both teams are coming into this game having lost their last two matches while the Hornets hold a 2-3 record in their last five, while the Cavs hold a 3-2 record in the same period.
LeBron was absent when the Cavs lost to Oklahoma City but he was back in the team, and grabbing 41 points, on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Cavs from losing 119-114 in New Orleans. The Hornets are in a terrible run of form and Saturday’s blowout defeat of 87-114 to Brooklyn is one they will want to get out of their system as quickly as they possibly can.
Charlotte don’t have any notable injuries but the medical team in Cleveland is working hard at the moment. Mike Miller is a major concern for the Cavs while Kyrie Irving, Dion Walters, Matthew Dellavedova and LeBron James are all being monitored on daily basis.
Taking the Hornets with a +10 handicap, at odds of 1.90, may not be a bad idea in this game featuring two teams trying to bust out of a slump. Bet Now!
