Friday Night NBA Action
Thursday the 20th of November was a quiet day for NBA fans with only two games taking place. The Clippers managed to grab a win on the road, defeating the Heat by a score of 93-110. Meanwhile, in Sacramento, there was a 103-88 win for the Kings against the Bulls. It may not have been a night for a lot of basketball betting but fans of the winning sides will have woken up on Friday morning delighted with the efforts that took place on Thursday evening.
New Orleans Pelicans @ Denver Nuggets
The Pelicans hit Denver with a 6-4 record while the Nuggets have a 4-7 record that they will be desperate to improve on. Both of the teams are coming into this game having won three out of their last four games and the Pelicans had a big win on Tuesday, winning 100-106 in Sacramento.
Anthony Davis grabbed 28 points while Ryan Anderson delivered 22 points, 15 of these in the second half. Tyreke Evans was another player with a big second half in that game grabbing 18 points in the final two quarters. This was a big win for the New Orleans side, allowing them to bounce back from a The Nuggets are coming into this on the back of a 107-110 triumph against the thunder but in their previous home game, they lost out to Portland by a score of 113-130.
Omer Asik is a doubt for the Pelicans while the Nuggets are monitoring the fitness of JJ Hickson, Randy Foye, Nate Robinson and Danilo Gallinari.
Taking the Pelicans at -2.5 with odds of 1.90 is likely to be a sensible bet for most people on Friday. Bet Now!
Los Angeles Lakers @ Dallas Mavericks
While the Lakers record of 3-9 is not a great one, the fact that they are currently 2-4 on the road shows that there is scope for progress at the moment. Mind you, they will receive no sympathy at all from the Mavericks with their owner Mark Cuban stating in an interview recently that he hopes the Lakers “suck forever”.
Both teams are coming into this match on a roll, although the Mavericks run of 5 wins on the bounce is more impressive than the 2 wins in a row that the Lakers can boast of. This means that something has to give and with other players stepping up to support Kobe Bryant, there is cause for optimism for the Los Angeles side. Nick Young is back and this is likely to be a big boost for the Lakers and with Jordan Hill on a run of 4 consecutive double-doubles, the team may be able to haul themselves up the standings sooner rather than later.
Dallas grabbed their fifth win in a row by holding on for a 105-102 triumph against Washington on Wednesday night, with Monta Ellis grabbing 34 points in total, 24 in the first half. They were also helped by Dirk Nowitzki taking it to the end of the game, even though he sprained his ankle late on. The player expects to be selected for this game but he may not be involved as much as he would like to be.
The Lakers will be looking over Nick Young, Ryan Kelly and Wayne Ellington in the build-up to this game while the Mavericks will be looking at Raymond Felton while Devin Harris is supposedly out.
With the Lakers improving all the time, their odds of 1.90 at +9.5 may be enough to entice you in and give you a good return for the start of the weekend. Bet Now!
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Washington Wizards
The Cavs are standing at 5-5 while the Wizards are holding a 7-3 record at the moment. Both teams hold a 3-2 record in their last five games, although this slightly masks the fact that the Cavs have lost their last two games.
Okay, the Cavs last game was a narrow loss to the San Antonio Spurs, but sometimes they are the games that hurt most and make it more difficult to bounce back from. Kyrie Irving grabbed 20 points in that game while Anderson Varejao offered up 23 points and 11 rebounds but LeBron could only provide 15 points, while he was also responsible for five turnovers in the narrow defeat.
Bradley Beal is going to be a vital player for the Wizards in this match, and he picked up 21 points, from the bench, in the 105-102 loss to Dallas. If Beal can maintain this form, while teaming up with Paul Pierce and John Wall, this game could be there for the taking for the home side.
The odds are indicative of how tight this game is but with the Cavs desperate to get back on track, taking them at -1.5 at odds of 1.90 will be a sensible bet. Bet Now!
