A New Week Of NBA Action
It is always good to start a new week of NBA betting but before we get too excited about what is on offer for Monday the 23rd of February, we should look back on the plethora of games that took place on Sunday the 22nd of February. You don’t always get a lot of NBA games on a Sunday but this weekend just passed was jam-packed.
The Cavs were big winners in New York, defeating the Knicks by 83-101. The Hawks were also winners on the road, defeating the Bucks by a score of 86-97. The Pacers were strong enough to see off the Warriors, winning by 104-98 and the Mavericks had more than enough about them to deal with the Hornets, defeating the team from Charlotte by a score of 92-81.
The Lakers downed the Celtics in Los Angeles, the side from Boston slipping to a 111-118 defeat. The Wizards suffered another major loss, this time to the Pistons. The team from Detroit were firing on all cylinders in their 106-89 win. The Magic hold off the 76ers with a 103-98 win in Orlando and the Thunder were comfortable against the Nuggets with a score of 119-94. The Portland Trail Blazers struggled yet again, showcasing a team that has lost some of the sparkle that was evident earlier on in the campaign. The Grizzlies were able to celebrate a massive win, winning by a score of 92-98 in Portland.
Milwaukee Bucks @ Chicago Bulls
This is a game between two sides that are making a big push this season and while the Bulls traditionally have the upper hand over the Bucks, they may find this game to be a bit more of a struggle than they usually do. When these two teams last clashed, Pau Gasol scored 46 points, a career high, in a 95-87 win for the Bulls.
The Bulls hold a 35-24 record going into this game, and this includes a 16-11 record at home. The Bucks hold a 31-24 record which contains a 15-13 record on the road. The Bucks lost their last game, yet hold an 8-2 record in their last 10 outings while the Bulls were winners in their last game and hold a 6-4 record in their last 10 games.
The Bulls have the edge for average points scored 102.1 to 98.8 while the Bucks have the edge for average points allowed, 96.9 to 99.2.
Both sides have a number of injury concerns going into this game with the Bucks monitoring Jerryd Bayless, Ersan Ilyasova, OJ Mayo and John Henson on a daily basis. They also have bigger concerns over Michael Carter-Williams, Larry Sanders, Kendall Marshall and Kenyon Martin. The Bulls are closely monitoring Jimmy Butler, Kirk Hinrich and Pau Gasol.
The Bucks lost at home to the Hawks on Sunday, being edged out 86-97 while on Saturday night, the Bulls defeated the Suns by 112-107.
The Bulls should have enough to see the game out but taking the Bucks with a +7.5 handicap, at odds of 1.90, isn’t the worst idea in the world on a Monday. Bet Now!
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Houston Rockets
The Rockets had been having a difficult period but they bounced back with a big win on Saturday and Corey Brewer will be going all out to impress against his former side.
The Timberwolves have a 12-423 record heading into this game, which includes a 5-21 record away from home. The Minnesota team won their most recent game and they hold a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. The Rockets have a 37-18 record, including a 19-8 record at home, heading into this one and after that win on Saturday, they hold a 6-4 record in their last 10 games.
With respect to average points scored and allowed, the Rockets hold the edge. For points scored, the Rockets have a 103.0 record compared to a 97.8 record and for average points allowed, the Rockets have a 99.6 record compared to a 106.2 record. The Bucks won at home to Phoenix on Friday night, winning by 111-109 and the Rockets defeated the Raptors on Saturday by a score of 98-76.
The Bucks are keeping a close eye on Gary Neal and Kevin Garnett while Anthony Bennet and Shabazz Muhammad look as though they miss out.
The Rockets are closely monitoring Patrick Beverley, Terrence Jones and Joey Dorsey. Taking the Rockets with a -9 handicap, and odds of 1.90, is likely to be a sound bet at the start of the week. Bet Now!
San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz
The Spurs haven’t enjoyed the best of form since the All-Star Break, losing to two top teams. The Jazz, on paper, shouldn’t represent such difficult opposition but they looked good in their first game after the split.
The Spurs hold a 34-21 record this season and this includes a 14-14 record away from him. With two losses from their two most recent games, the Spurs need to bounce back quickly and they hold a 6-4 record in their last 10 outings. The Jazz have a 20-34 record this season and this includes a home record of 11-15. The Jazz were winners in their last game and they have a 4-6 record in their last 10 games.
For average points scored, the Spurs have a big advantage, leading 100.9 to 95.7 and for average points allowed, the Spurs hold a narrow advantage, 97.4 to 97.7. There doesn’t appear to be any injury concerns for either team heading into this game, with both sides having full squads to select from.
Both teams played on Friday night with the Spurs losing out away to the Golden State Warriors by a score of 110-99 and the Jazz won at home to Portland, triumphing by 92-76.
This is really the time for the Spurs to step up and show their championship credentials so taking the Spurs at -5.5, with a handicap of 1.90, is likely to be a sensible bet to get the week started. Bet Now!
