Sunday Basketball Betting Action Is Back
The festive period is over and done with and with the first Monday of the year looming large, many people are realising it is time to get back to normal. It is still possible to have fun though and there are a number of basketball betting options to look out for on Sunday.
There was also some excellent games taking place on Saturday, and we’ll start with a recap of what took place. The Hornets had an excellent Saturday night, winning 90-98 in Orlando while Houston showed their strength by dismantling the Heat. The Rockets sent their opponents back to Miami with their tails between their legs after a 115-79 result. The Wizards slumped on the road, losing 101-92 to the Spurs and the Hawks grabbed a big win in Portland, triumphing by 107-115.
The Celtics lost in Chicago, the Bulls coming out on top by 109-104. The Jazz defeated the Timberwolves in Minnesota, the final score being 89-101. The Nuggets were comprehensive winners against the Grizzlies, the Denver side beating their Memphis opponents by a score of 114-85. The Los Angeles Clippers were also emphatic in their victory, defeating the 76ers by a score of 127-91.
Dallas Mavericks @ Cleveland Cavaliers
The Mavericks come into this game with a 24-10 record, which includes an 11-5 record away from Dallas. The Cavaliers are slightly poorer off, holding a 19-14 record which includes an 11-7 record win in Cleveland. Obviously this campaign was supposed to be the triumphant homecoming of LeBron James but the season certainly hasn’t panned out in the manner that the Cavs have been looking for, at least not yet.
The Cavs are coming into this game on the back of a win while the Mavericks hold a four game winning streak. The side from Dallas have a 4-1 record in their last five games while the Cavaliers hold a 2-3 record in their last five games.
Rajon Rondo has given the Mavericks a lift and while the player looked visibly moved by the reception he received in Boston on Friday night, it didn’t affect his performance. Rondo grabbed a season high of 29 points in the 101-119 victory against the Celtics. For the Cavs, Kevin Love filled some of the void created by LeBron’s injury with 27 points in the 87-91 win away to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.
The Mavericks have no significant injury worries but the same cannot be said for Cleveland. James is scheduled to be out for two weeks and the Cavs also have doubts over Kevin Love and Shawn Marion.
It is a game that could go either way but taking the Cavaliers with a +7 handicap, at odds of 1.90, is likely to be a safe bet for Sunday. Bet Now!
Sacramento Kings @ Detroit Pistons
The Kings come into this game with a 14-19 record and this includes a 6-9 return when they are away from Sacramento. The Pistons haven’t had a great campaign, standing with a 9-23 record, which includes a 3-13 record at home. It looks as though the Pistons aren’t too hot in Detroit but maybe the start of the New Year will provide them with the chance of improving their status. In saying that, the Pistons have won four games in a row, so they have thoroughly enjoyed the festive period and they will be looking to maintain this form for as long as they possibly can. The Kings won their last game, and hold a 2-3 record in their last five games.
The Pistons grabbed a great win in New York on Friday night and Brandon Jennings was a big factor in the 81-97 win against the Knicks, finishing with 29 points. Darren Collinson and Rudy Gay were both on form on the first day of the year as the Kings won in Minnesota by a score of 107-110. Both Gay and Collinson grabbed 21 points in this game.
The Kings travel to Detroit with a couple of injury concerns. Ramon Sessions, Omri Casspi and Eric Moreland are all doubts to some degree for this game while the Pistons have no injury worries.
Given their current run of form, taking the Pistons with a -3 handicap at odds of 1.90 is a tempting bet for Sunday. Bet Now!
Toronto Raptors @ Phoenix Suns
The team from Toronto can boast of a 24-9 record so far this season and this includes a 10-6 record away from their home court. The Suns hold a 19-16 record, which includes an 8-7 record in Phoenix. While the Raptors have a great record for the season, they have lost their last two games and their five game run stands at 2-3. The Suns come into this game on the back of a win and hold a 3-2 record in their last five games.
The 126-105 loss in Golden State on Friday was definitely the worst loss of the campaign for the Raptors, it was only their second double digit defeat, but there is still optimism around the club that they can get back to winning ways and have a successful season. Also on Friday, the Suns were enjoying a 112-96 win against Philadelphia with Gerald Green and Markieff Morris grabbing 21 points each and Eric Bledsoe also managed to offer 17 points.
The Raptors have injury concerns over DeMar DeRozan and Landry Fields while the Suns don’t have any injury concerns coming into this game.
This may be the game where the Raptors bounce back and taking them with a +1 handicap, and odds of 1.90, is likely to be a sensible option for basketball betting fans. Bet Now!
