Memphis Grizzlies @ New Orleans Pelicans
When the games come thick and fast in the NBA, you don’t really get a chance to look too far into the distance but there are times when you think that players get ahead of themselves. There is no denying that the Pelicans knew that a couple of wins would do their play-off hopes a lot of good, especially against the Grizzlies, but slipping up against the Celtics in the build-up to this game won’t have done them much good.
The Pelicans slipped up 98-104 at home to Boston on Friday night, a result that let the Suns creep in closer behind them. The Grizzlies meanwhile defeated the Lakers on Friday night by a score of 97-90.
The Grizzlies have a 44-17 record so far and this includes a road record of 20-10 so far for the season. The Pelicans are on a 33-29 record for the season and this includes a 21-11 record at home. The Grizzlies have won their last two and have a 6-4 record. The Pelicans also have a 6-4 record although they lost on Friday night. With respect to average points scored, the Grizzlies have a minimal advantage, leading 99.5 to 99.4. For average points allowed, the Grizzlies have a clearer advantage, 95.6 to 99.2.
The Memphis side are likely to be without Vince Carter while Tony Allen, Zach Randolph and Beno Udrih are doubts. For the Pelicans, Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson could be missing while Anthony Davis is being monitored closely.
Taking the Grizzlies with a -1 handicap, at odds of 1.90, should be a good way to get involved this weekend. Bet Now!
Portland Trail Blazers @ Minnesota Timberwolves
The Trail Blazers are doing fantastic with respect to wins and performances this season but their joy at the moment has been tempered by the loss of Wesley Matthews for the rest of their campaign. Presently, Matthews is the third top scorer for the Portland side and he has started in all 152 games for the team since the end of last season. This run is over though as a ruptured Achilles Tendon at the end of the 94-75 win over Dallas on Thursday means his season is over.
Portland have a 41-19 record so far this season and this includes a road record of 15-13. The Timberwolves have a 13-47 record so far this campaign, and this includes an 8-24 record at home. The Blazers have a 5 game winning streak, and a 7-3 record in their last 10 games, while the Timberwolves have a 4 game losing streak, and a 3-7 record in their last 10 games. Their most recent loss came on Wednesday when they went down 85-100 at home to the Nuggets.
For average points scored, Portland have a big advantage, 102.3 to 97.6 while for average points allowed, Portland again have a big advantage, 97.0 to 105.5.
The loss of Wesley Matthews is a massive blow to Portland but the Timberwolves could be without Robbie Hummel while Nikola Pekovic, Gary Neal and Kevin Martin are all being monitored closely.
Taking Portland with a -4.5 handicap, and odds of 1.90, looks to be a sound bet. Bet Now!
Washington Wizards @ Milwaukee Bucks
The Wizards have been in a slump and in that state; you just need to win basketball games. They were cruising to victory against Miami before a late collapse saw them struggling but in the end they snatched a 99-97 win. It wasn’t pretty but it may have broken the run of bad form and the Wizards will be hoping to grab another win against a team who are on a four game losing streak of their own.
The Wizards have a 35-27 record at the moment, which includes a 13-17 record on the road. The win over Miami helped the team move to a 3-7 record in their last 10 games. The Bucks have a 32-39 record so far and this includes a 17-11 record at home. Their four game losing run sees them with a 4-6 record in their last 10 games. Their last outing was on Wednesday and they lost away to the Golden State Warriors by a score of 102-93.
For average points scored, the Wizards have the edge, 98.6 to 97.8 while for average points allowed, the Bucks have a narrow advantage, 96.6 to 98.0. The Wizards look like being without Kris Humphries while the Bucks are monitoring Jared Dudley and have bigger concerns over OJ Mayo.
Taking the Wizards with a +4.5 handicap, at odds of 1.90, could well be a sound bet for Saturday. Bet Now!
