NBA Conference Semi-Finals Get Underway
We are finally into the NBA Conference Semi-Finals after Saturday brought the first round to a close. The Los Angeles Clippers are through to the next round of the NBA Playoffs and the reigning NBA Champions are out. This is the outcome of the 111-109 victory for the Los Angeles Clippers. It was fitting that a Game 7 series was decided in such a narrow manner, with Chris Paul notching the winning points with a second to go of the game.
Washington Wizards @ Atlanta Hawks
It took the Hawks a while to get beyond the Nets in their Playoffs but they sealed their passage with a strong performance and some people are suggesting that the Hawks have their swagger back at the right time. There is a lot to be said for timing when it comes to basketball and it may be that the Hawks are in the right frame of mind at the right time to take on the Washington Wizards. Their Friday night over the Nets means that they don’t have a lot of time to rest and recover but the adrenaline is likely to still be kicking around their body, so that should see them in good stead for this game.
Washington have had a week’s rest after they dismantled the Raptors in quick style, and this can be good or bad for the team. There will be plenty of knocks and niggles that have hopefully benefitted from the rest but the Wizards may find that they need some time to get back into their rhythm for this game. It will be interesting to see how the game starts and what sort of mood both sets of players are in.
The Wizards were 14 games behind the Hawks in the regular season but their comfortable defeat of the Raptors will provide the Washington side with a good deal of confidence. The Hawks had the upper hand in the games during the regular season, winning three and then losing out in a late-season game where they rested a number of key players.
The Wizards stand at 50-36 for the season and this includes a 19-24 record on the road and a 7-3 record in their 10 last games. The Hawks are 64-24 for the season, including a 38-6 record at home and a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. For average points scored, the Hawks lead 102.5 to 99.1 and for average points against, the Hawks lead 97.1 97.7.
Taking the Hawks at -5.5, with odds of 1.90, is likely to be a decent bet when it comes to making the most of your Sunday NBA betting activities. Bet Now!
Memphis Grizzlies @ Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have had plenty of time to rest in the build-up to this game, and they have had to focus on their own game because it wasn’t too clear who they were going to be facing. They are coming up against the Grizzlies but even with that knowledge there is a bit of uncertainty because no one knows if Mike Conley will make an appearance for the Memphis side.
Conley has travelled with the Grizzlies but is a big doubt. He has been fitted for a protective mask but this has yet to be cleared by the medial team, which means that there is a touch of uncertainty about the Grizzlies side.
Both of the teams had a strong season in the West and many believed that the two teams would be squaring off in the NBA Finals. The Warriors won 67 games in the regular season and they swept past the Pelicans convincingly. With a 41-2 record at home, and 20 wins in a row, they are a formidable team on their own patch and the Grizzlies will know that they have a massive game on their hands.
The Grizzlies fell away in the last week of the regular season, dropping down to fifth spot and giving themselves a tougher route in the NBA Playoffs. They eventually got beyond the Blazers in the first round of the Playoffs and they have some a good deal of experience and pedigree in the Playoffs in recent years, this is their third appearance in the Semi-Finals in five years.
The Grizzlies have a 59-28 record this season which contains a 25-18 record on the road and a 7-3 record in their 10 most recent games. The Warriors are 71-15 for the season which includes a 41-2 record at home and an 8-2 record in their 10 most recent games.
For average points scored, the Warriors lead 109.9 to 98.4 and for average points against, the Grizzlies have the advantage by 95.0 to 99.9.
You really have to fancy the Warriors in this one and taking them at -10, with odds of 1.90, is a good start to the NBA Conference Semi-Finals. Bet Now!
