Today we will travel to Spain for the 3rd matchday of the 8th group of the Basketball Champions League. A group that Rytas (1-1), Oldenburg (1-1), Besiktas (1-1) and Burgos (1-1) will fight till the end for the qualification. The first team of the group will qualify for the Last-16 stage, while the 2nd will play against the 3rd after a draw for the home advantage.
Burgos, the back-to-back champions of BCL, is coming from a defeat and one associated with a super lousy appearance against Badalona. The final score of 82-65 disappointed coach Zan Tabak, who saw his team record at ACB fall to 3-5. In the last match for the BCL, Burgos suffered a lot of absences due to injuries and was humiliated by Rytas in Lithuania (87-69). Important guard Garcia will miss tonight’s home game for Burgos.
The season isn’t great so far for Oldenburg. Mladen Drijencic’s team lost 95-85 at Gottingen for the German league, dropped to 1-5 and sank to the bottom of the BBL standings! This was the 5th consecutive defeat for Oldenburg. On the one hand, they can’t find solutions in the attack, while in defence, they prove very soft, conceding over 90 points in most games. After the defeat by Besiktas for the BCL, their record is now at 1-1. Oldenburg played two consecutive home games and will now be looking for a win on the road to stay alive in the qualification race.
