The second “devil week” of this season’s Euroleague starts tonight, with Olympiakos (3-2) hosting Alba (2-3) in Faliro.
Coach Bartzokas’ team fell heroically in Moscow, but eventually, they paid for the awful second quarter they had (28-13 in favour of CSKA at the second quarter, 88-82 final score). Incredible performance at Megasport Arena by American shooting guard Tyler Dorsey, who scored 32 points with 7/10 three-pointers. French power forward Jean – Charles was super positive with 11 points and 6 rebounds in just 16 minutes of play. Captain Kostas Sloukas remained low (2 points in 13 minutes of play) at a game that his team anticipated much more from him. Important forward Kostas Papanikolaou remains doubtful for tonight’s clash after hitting his knee during the championship game against Iraklis in Thessaloniki (Olympiacos prevailed 96-90 in overtime after a controversial non-call at Iraklis’s last shot). At the same time, we just learnt that American center Hassan Martin would be out of action for the matches against Alba and Fenerbahce due to a knee problem.
Alba showed some natural energy in defence and passed like a typhoon from Belgrade (63-78 over the Crvena Zvezda). They had four double-digit players: Lo 17 points, Sikma 11 points/7 rebounds, Zoosman 11 points and T. Blatt 10 points. Eriksson (shooting guard) and Lammers (center) remain unavailable. However, 23-year-old newly center Oscar Da Silva has offered several quality solutions inside the paint.
