NCAA Sweet 16
A Sweet clash between two of the “heaviest” jerseys of the tournament…
This year, the Bears (No. 1) have a serious height issue in the paint, but the Wildcats (No. 5) are not equipped well enough to take advantage of Baylor’s lack of size near the rim. Villanova’s tallest starter is the 6-9 forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, whose size isn’t, unfortunately, enough for them. Villanova also suffers from their weak defence (71st in the country in defensive efficiency), and the Wildcats are playing tonight against the best 3-point shooting team in the nation (41.5 per cent!). A team that got 17 points and 6 rebounds from the bench, specifically from junior forward Matthew Mayer, during Sunday’s second-round win over Wisconsin. In the previous rounds, Baylor beat Hartford (79-55) and Wisconsin 76-63. Both relatively easily.
On the other side of the court, the Wildcats dominated over Winthrop University (73-63) and University of North Texas (84-61), and they appear prepared before tonight’s decisive event.
