In Game three of the quarter-final series, Real Madrid proved that their jersey still weighs a lot. Lasso’s team defeated Efes 80-76, closed the gap to 2-1 and are playing yet another final tonight in a series that will be decided in 3 wins.
Despite chasing Efes for the most significant part of the game, and even though they were down by 15 in the 3rd quarter, Real Madrid managed to leave the court victorious. Led by a fantastic Sergio Llull (20 p. , 7 assists), the Madrilenanian won the last quarter by an individual score 32-18 and remained alive in the series.
What makes this win even more remarkable for Real is that they played without their best tall player, center Tavares from Cape Verde. The irreplaceable “beast” is still in pain in the adductors, and it is questionable whether he will make it for today’s game!
Efes (Micic 29 points, 6 assists, Beaubois 18 points) sort of unplugged themselves and slowed down dramatically halfway in game 3. And eventually, they paid for it.
“We did not handle the situation properly; we thought the match was over,” said the Turkish coach Ergin Ataman, who is expecting his players to behave and dominate in the court tonight.
Efes is complete for another game and determined to get rid of Real Madrid. They feel they deserve the ticket to the Final 4 in Cologne, and they will look to prove it!
