ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne vs. Olimpia MilanoThe team owned by former superstar Tony Parker, and coached by his brother TJ, has welcomed two key players that should have made the team instantly better. Nando De Colo and Joffrey Lauvergne joined ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne this summer. Unfortunately, with two losses and one win, since the start of their 2022/23 campaign, this hasn’t worked out as planned, yet.

The team from Lyon-Villeurbanne lost their first two domestic matches in the French Pro A league against Cholet (91-89) and Blois (86-82). Both matches were very close games and could have been wins just as easy. They won their last match against Bourg-en-Bresse (led by Youssoupha Fall with 20 points and 7 rebounds) providing them a step in the right direction approaching their game against Ettore Messina’s Milan.

Olimpia Milano on the other hand only played one LBA game so far, as their domestic league the Lega Basket Serie A only kicked off a week ago. They nearly won, beating Basket Brescia with only one point (78-77). Nicolo Meli (14 points, 9 rebounds) led the team in scoring, while Devon Hall who’s in his second season at Milan, added 13 points. On anther note, Milan lost the Super Cup final against Virtus Segafredo Bologna, in a match decided by the referees with debatable calls. Both Euroleague teams were favourites to make it to the LBA Supercoppa final, but faced each other in the semi-final game. The game went in overtime before coach Sergio Scariolo’s (EuroBasket 2022 winner with Spain) team took the win (64-72).

Coach Messina’s team also saw some new players arrive at the Mediolanum Forum. New to the team are Brandon Davies, Deshaun Thomas, Billy Baron, all American players. German player Johannes Voigtmann and Canadian player Kevin Pangos also join the Reds, just like Stefano Tonut who left Venice after many successful seasons.

There are no known injuries for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, while Naz Mitrou-Long, Gigi Datome and Tommaso Baldasso will not get dressed up for Milan tonight. Kevin Pangos is questionable for tonights game, as he only returned to the court past Sunday.
