Zaragoza surprise the basketball world in the first quarterfinal of the Final – 8 of the Basketball Champions League held in Novgorod, Russia. The Spaniards kicked out the tournament host Nizhny after defeating the Russians 86-78. Luis Casimiro shined in that game while Canadian playmaker Dylan Ennis finished the match with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.
Former Panathinaikos centre Jacob Wiley (15 points, 8 rebounds) and forward Elias Harris (17 points) were in double digits, playing a pivotal role during the match, while Nicolas Brussino had 12 points and 5 assists.
Karsiyaka entered the clash with Nymburk as the outsider; however, they managed to control the pace of the game.
